The solution for the ongoing equipment shortage is seen here running the western rails of the Raritan Valley Line. NJ Transit has borrowed ten of these MARC IIA commuter cars in attempt to relieve the overcrowding on some of their trains. The cars were retired back in 2015 and have since been tossed around different passenger railroads suffering from a shortage of equipment such as Amtrak, Long Island Railroad, and are now making their “MARC” on the rails of NJ Transit. Of the ten borrowed cars, three of them have been sidelined, with one shopped and the other two as spares. The other seven have been designated to service on the Raritan Valley Line and can be seen here making their daily run to High Bridge on train 5733.
