Open doors days in the workplace of the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke at Uzwil. Heavy 1 meter gauge, 0-8-0 fourcylinder compound cogwheel steamlocomotive HG 4/4 # 704 is finished after more then 12 years hard work by many volunteers (48000 hours). Abt cogwheel system, 2 cogwheels, Winterthur drive, compound, with high pressure to the 4 driving axles and low pressure for the two cogwheels. The 4 cylinders have the same diameter of 455 mm or 17,9 inch. 800 Horsepower, 40 km/h. The locomotive was built by SLM Winterthur in 1923 and delivered to Indochine (Vietnam) in 1924 for the line Song Pha (former Krong Pha) – Da Lat. Brought back to Switzerland in 1990 as scrap. More then half of the parts were built new. Now it is a jewel of Swiss quality, a witness to the art of engineering.
