Coyote Basin, Utah. That is the vast, colorful area in the background of this photo. The Colorado state line is in the hills just behind the last line of colorful rocks in the mid distance. That dark, pinyon covered ridge in the far background that stretches entirely across the picture is Raven Ridge and is in Colorado. Coyote Basin is home to coyotes (obviously), Mule Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Eagles, Badgers, Foxes, Prairie Dogs, some of the endangered Black Footed Ferrets and the Deseret Power Ry. The Ry.’s afternoon, loaded train is seen here puling up the short, steep grade that is it's way out of the basin. The train is still around 8 or so miles from its destination, the Bonanza Power Plant.
