This is the most reliable daylight train on the Union Pacific’s Shafter Sub.; the MRORV. The only other reliable trains are Amtrak #5 and #6, but they both pass here in the middle of the night. Other far less reliable trains are the BNSF eastbound and westbound trackage rights manifests. Around 3 times a week for them. Then there are grain loads for California, coal for export or the Newmont plant, occasional ores, trona, and odballs like work trains etc. Photos just can’t properly present the wonderful sense of isolation and beauty out here; you just have to experience it for yourself.
