Twilight of the F59PHI: Locomotive 459 has been pulling and pushing trains up and down the Surf Line for 20 years. Now, in the second half of 2018, it is nearing the end of pulling Pacific Surfliner trains for Amtrak and the state of California. In the late afternoon light, train 782 rolls across the old wooden trestle in Del Mar, one of the last such bridges left on the Surf Line. One day, this bridge will also be replaced.
