A CMQ extra head down the former Maine Central "Atlantic Branch" with six loads from Dragon Cement in Thomaston, ME. The loads will be swapped on the waterfront where they are transloaded onto a barge and shipped along the East coast.
In 1991, Dragon Cement once again starting shipping by rail via the operator of the Rockland Branch, Maine Coast. Since they were having trouble getting empties from Guilford Transportation, state funds were secured to rebuild the Atlantic Branch between the Maine Central Rockland Yard and the waterfront so their product could be barged. Between then and now, several contractors have operated on the branch including Maine Coast, Safe Handling Rail, Maine Eastern and now Central Maine and Quebec.
