To my surprise after climbing up to get an angle on this shot, the canal that services the Falls Village Hydro-Electric plant on the Housatonic river is drained. Once every five-or-so years, First Light drains the canal to inspect for cracks and repair the under water gates. Here we see the empty canal on an overcast day with leased MEC GP40-2 345 leading Housatonic GP35 3604 and a short NX12 back to Canaan, CT from New Milford, CT
