Remarks & Notes |
An empty grain bound for western Iowa is about to Blairsburg in central Iowa. The CN era of big power hasn't quite taken effect west of Waterloo back in 2006, the 40's were still king on many trains. The ethanol era would soon hit Iowa hard as most of the corn would go into ethanol production. I was told once that 1 car of ethanol would equal out to 3 cars of corn. Soybeans still move heavy out of Iowa in 2018, but the corn isn't as much now days. The train seen here is shot off the highway 69 overpass in Blairsburg. The Williams elevator is in the background. The leader 6005 was rebuilt into a Sd40-2R in 1995, and retired in 2009. |
