Remarks & Notes |
July 2000 finds me watching trains on the UP Spineline in central Iowa. A northbound empty grain train races towards Mason City as they blow past Bradford. The sun and clouds were barely working in my favor at this shot!. I remember this guy was hauling and keeping up was a full chore. The UP Spineline is the old Rock Island route between KC and St. Paul that the CNW picked up when the Rock went bankrupt. The train is currently working between crew change points of Des Moines and Mason City.
The 6874 was rebuilt by SP to SD45T-2Rs at Sacramento in April 1989 from SP 9322. this unit This unit would be retired by the UP on April 27, 2001, and would never see the renumbered # of UP 4968. |
