Just a couple of old friends saying goodbye. CSX B746-27 sits in Cedar Hill Yard on Friday, September 28, 2018 in the early morning pouring rain with CSX 6226 (GP40-2 ex-B&O 4327). The three FL-9s (2011, 2024, and 2026) that it picked up from Connecticut DOT in New Haven are being sent to their new homes after being purchased at auction. Not only are all of the units EMD built, but the GP40-2 has the telltale yellow plow trim, identifying it as a third rail clearance compliant unit. In the lead position behind the active power is unit 2024 (ex-New Haven 2058), which was purchased by Webb Rail LLC - Babbling Brook and is enroute to the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum in Lenox, MA. Trailing are 2011 and 2026, which were purchased by the Mass Coastal Railroad.
