Remarks & Notes |
97304 “John Tiley” and 37516 “Loch Laidon” pass Llanystumdwy – between Criccieth and Pwllheli – with day 1 of Steam Dreams‘ 1Z45 08:31 Paddington to Pwllheli “The Cambrian Coast Express.” I've been itching to do this shot since some time, but it needed the right train running at the right time of year at the right time of day. The position of the sun was just perfect. In the backgrond can be seen Criccieth Castle. The castle dates from the 1230s during the days of Llywelyn the Great. The Rhinog range near Harlech rears up on the right-hand side of the photo, while Moel-y-Gest is prominent on the left. The Dwyryd Estuary and Tremadoc Bay separates the two. |
