No longer in operation, Q678-15 pulls freight through Roanoke under a CSX wooden bridge. Even though this train is no more, this old bridge still has its wooden pillars shaken by several trains each day. Typically wood used for these bridges are soaked in creosote, a chemical that preserves the wood. This same substance is applied to railroad ties as well. |
