Just a normal ole' roster shot of a ex Chessie phase llb GP40-2. The 6900s were noted in earlier years for being equipped with cab signals for use on the RF&P, after the CR merger the 6900s saw a widened service area. A year before this photo was taken, several of the 6900s had been chosen as slug mothers for a newly built batch of Road Mates which had recently been rebuilt from retired GP38s and GP40s. The new sets were matched mechanically and electrically the same as the sets from the early 90s which used GP30s and GP35s as cores for the mates. (Slide Scan) |
