Assigned to work the Oakland Yard in August, 1969, Alco S-2 557 is now wearing an all orange paint scheme applied to many switchers and F-units in the late 60s. Of course, everything on a railroad has a nickname, and these soon became known as "pumpkins". Photo taken from my slide collection, no photographer name listed on slide.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
