A loaded feeder train bound for the KCS at Kansas City is working east on the Mason City Sub on a cold December morning. The train has all 4-40's wide open as they climb out of Lawler in northern Iowa. The train is 59 miles from the next crew change point at Marquette. The KCS and IC&E has an agreement to run these shuttle type train for chicken feed farmers along the KCS in the south.
