Remarks & Notes |
After a 75 mile trip from my home to Helper my first stop was the Utah Railway's Martin Yard. I found one of their engineers just walking out of the yard office and stopped to talk to him. He told me that there was an empty oil train heading for Martin from Provo and it was already on the road. So, I made an executive decision to try and intercept the Utah oil train in the Soldier Summit area. I went west on US6 out of Helper and just as I went by Soldier Summit, here comes the eastbound oil train. So after a quick U turn, I followed it down Price River Canyon towards Helper and recorded this shot below Kyune siding. The power on this train was stunning; all 5 units were in the old scheme Utah Ry. grey and red colors. Not a bit of G&W orange to be seen. |
