For my job in oil and gas drilling, I needed to go visit a drilling rig which was drilling a gas well off of Consumers Road near Helper, Utah. Consumers Rd. goes right past the Wildcat coal loadout. When I went up the road around noon, there were trucks unloading coal, but no train in sight. On my return trip about 2PM there was this Utah Railway train loading at Wildcat. This is the first train I had seen there in many months. Judging from the number of trucks unloading and the size of the coal pile, I suspect they are loading more trains now that in the recent past. Today’s train was aluminum, rapid discharge hoppers marked for the IPP (Intermountain Power Project) plant. The shot was taken under completely overcast skies with on and off snow showers.
