Remarks & Notes |
Big Mason City bound consists have been the normal for many many years on this trackage. Heavy grades over the 117 miles between Mason City and Marquette was always a challenge for the railroads. Extra power seemed to be in short supply in Mason City to help these trains out, so it was always being sent out there. Here 7 SD40's pass just west of Ossian at sunset. Great location shown to me by Scott Marsh many years ago. On a lightly used secondary route I only managed to get a train here at sunset 3-4 times over the past 20 years. Definitely worth it, if the timing is right. |
