A very slick coating of graupel, or snow pellets, caused this coal train for Montour Power Plant to stall on Turbotville hill. NS 3339 is giving a push on the rear the rest of the trip to the plant.
This siding is at the Great Dane Trailers plant and Great Dane does not use rail service, although many of their products ride the rails in intermodal service. NS uses the siding as needed, basically for storing MoW equipment.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
