"Amtrak Water World at Fordham"
Metro North's "Water World 1" heads south through Fordham Station on the Harlem Line with Amtrak P42DC 2112 leading. "Water World" is Metro North's rail washer tasked with spraying leaf residue off the rails throughout the electrified territory, mainly the Harlem & New Haven Lines. This Water World set consists of a Cab Car, Sprayer Car (old caboose), 2 water tanks and a leased Amtrak P42DC for power.
Metro North has leased 2 P42DCs (112 & 115) from Amtrak to assist with engine shortages while some of their Brookville BL20GHs are out for rebuild. Because the road numbers on the leased locomotives conflict with the road numbers of existing Metro North locomotives, a "2" was placed in front of their existing numbers.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
