Remarks & Notes
A pair of CSX SD40's was team up with another CSX unit to power this unit ethanol train out of Waterloo. The train now heads east towards Chicago where it will interchange to the CSX for points east or south. Here the train tops the grade at Beth Siding on the Dubuque Sub. The train is 30 miles east of Waterloo, and the pair of 40's look great on the mainline train. SD40's don't do much leading on the CN in Iowa anymore. Also of note the Beth Siding is no longer in use and has been cut from the mainline at both ends. Both signals and switches have been removed.

The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
