Remarks & Notes |
Containers in their infancy - five flats and eight containers. Manchester Liners started container service between Manchester, England and Montreal in November 1968. They built the first container gantry in the port and CN ran a dedicated container train between Montreal and Toronto. The same photo today would include Port of Montreal genset switchers, well ballasted track, six-axle CN power on double stack container trains interchanging with the port railway and this gritty section of the port now a tourist destination and full of condos. |
