Soo Line SW1200 no. 324 handles switching duties at Irvine Yard in Chippewa Falls, WI on a cool January 1973 afternoon. Delivered in black with duluxe gold striping, the unit fits well into the snow scene in SOO's 1961 scheme. Switchers like this and Alco S2s/S4s used to also power the local from here to Eau Claire, but in the 1970s GP7/9s were more common, and occasionally a GP30. CN still uses this yard.
