Even on the second day of December, what left of the beautiful Tennessee Valley fall foliage still give us colorful background on this windy brisk morning. The inbound crew of the empty CSX Q210-01 (Cayce,SC-Smyrna,TN) bring the 9,800ft long unit train to a safe stop at Wauhatchie ( MP J-145.7 Wauhatchie Pike) ending the inbound crew morning journey from Atlanta to Chattanooga on the Western & Atlantic Sub (WA). Now on the Chattanooga Sub, and right at the top of the hour of 1pm the crew will wait for the taxi to bring the outbound crew to it's train in couple of minutes or so. Sounding very dull at times, it is very nice for a change to actually see a veteran of the wide cab fleet, C40-8W still running around on the CSX locomotive roster as CSX has continue to do away with a large portion of their older fleet. Only a hand full of C40-8W, and the rare two rebuilt C40-8WM are still in service, and even I think their time is limited on the roster.
