A westbound Canadian Pacific grain train led by two Union Pacific EMD SD9043MACs approaches historic Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, on September 28, 2010, and will soon be crossing into British Columbia. With the locomotive pool agreement with CP and UP between Calgary and Spokane, pure sets of UP power, especially SD9043MACs, on this line during this era was commonplace.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
