Santa Fe 5967 winds through the curves at the east end of Rowan as it roars eastward up the heavy grade at Keene, CA. Note the 3-masted signal at left, which likely gives the engineer a heads-up as to what's coming up at Woodford, the next siding to the east.
Freight Cowls are standard locomotives that have a hood that extends the full width of the locomotive. Sadly, most Freight Cowls have been retired, but a few still run on short lines.
