Five years ago today, the second train of 2014 to run (over my territory) on the Lafayette District was NS manifest freight 15E. NS decided to close down the railroad for the New Year's holiday, so this train was tied down in Peru, Indiana sometime during the afternoon of December 31st. It began snowing on New Year's day, throughout the night and continued on and off into the 2nd. I had just photographed the first train of the year (21T) about an hour earlier, so with my camera out and ready, I decided to capture 15E as it rolled through the County Road E 1400 N crossing at 47 MPH.
