Santa Fe 5997 East, a pig train out of northern California, grinds slowly past a herd of sheep as shepherds work to maintain control of their flock as the big, noisy machines roar past. Forage is hard to come by out here on the Mojave Desert, but by the looks of the animals, they've done pretty well so far this winter.
Freight Cowls are standard locomotives that have a hood that extends the full width of the locomotive. Sadly, most Freight Cowls have been retired, but a few still run on short lines.
