The South St. Paul, MN, to North Platte, NE, freight rolls out of Argon after meeting a coal train. The train passes the restored Mills Tower here at Iowa Falls. Mills Tower is now on the National Register of Historic Places and was roughly guessed to be built around 1909. Iowa Falls is located on the UP Mason City Sub which is the old Rock Island Spineline that the CNW purchased after the bankruptcy that runs from St. Paul to KC. Here the trackage crosses the CN Waterloo Sub at Mills.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
