A southbound Elkhart and Western train crosses the CSXT Garrett Sub at Walkerton. We got lucky as we heard rumors this job doesn't go much north of Plymouth anymore, I heard once a month. The job does run up to Walkerton to serves Rossborough Manufacturing, an Opta Minerals Company. The plant is north of the diamond at Walkerton and is a northbound move only to spot so the power was split to serve the plant. 1 load up and 5 empties back.
Here at Walkerton, at one time, the B&O east-west main crossed the New York Central and the Nickel Plate in a triangle shape with the tower in the middle. The NYC trackage towards Schneider, IN, is now torn up. The Nickle Plate signals serve as a reminder of what once was.
