The late afternoon light finds BNSF 8442 pulling one of the numerous Plant Scherer train sets as it heads west for another load of black diamonds for the famous Georgia Power plant. The CofG line at this time was partially downgraded and saw only locals and empty coal moves such as this about one to two times a week. The following year would see the return of through freight trains, 4 in all, polishing the rails here which was a welcomed sight. Although, as NS begins to “clean sheet” their way into the world PSR, one can only guess what the future holds for this clearance restricted line. Hopefully the sign on the left is not an indication of its fate.
