Remarks & Notes
Two big machines work in tandem: one for laying concrete ties, the other, for laying welded rail. The crew here is adding a second main track between Knightsen and Oakley, CA, on Santa Fe's Stockton Sub. The reason? To reduce congestion for Amtrak San Joaquins. Amtrak footed the entire bill of $31 million to add the second main.

What California is known for. Fires, droughts, weed, and people waving rainbow flags. Yah. Great place alright. At least the trains are nice.
