By July 6, 1964, NdeM 8, El Fronterizo, is a train most Yankees can only dream of, a seemingly endless string of primea and secunda-class coaches, lightweight and heavyweight Pullmans, full diner, assorted baggage cars, a correo (postal car, ) dormitorio for the crew, and an ex-New York Central lightweight observation car, all in the charge of EMD FP9 7033 and a companion. It’s been a long day and night for crew and passengers, and the ingeniero is pouring on the fuel for last few of the 1225 miles from Ciudad Juarez to Mexico City’s Buenavista Station.
