An empty BNSF coal train snakes through the rock cuts high above the Snake River approaching Union Pacific’s bridge at Joso, Washington, on September 21, 2015. These BNSF coal trains use UP’s Ayer Subdivision (the Washy) out of Spokane. The track below is the Great Northwest Railroad (Watco) that operates this former UP branch out of Ayer Junction.
