On the turntable of Bw (Bahnbetriebswerk) Dresden Altstadt during a photo night on the occasion of the 11th steamlocomotive gathering Dresden. 2-10-0 556 # 0506 "Štokr" of the Ceske Drahy from Hradci Králové was built in 1958 by Škoda, Plzeň, using modern steam technology. During the construction of the 556.0 series locomotive, all the findings that had previously been gathered worldwide in steam locomotive construction were applied. The design included roller bearings, stoker firing, automatic lubrication, double blow pipes of the Kylchap type, pneumatic deslagging of the boiler and pneumatic actuation of the Heusinger control with a servo motor. The boiler pressure has been increased to 18 bar, otherwise the boiler is identical to that of the 475.1. The locomotive is made entirely of welded construction. The 1620 kW locomotive with a axle load of 16 ton only is capable for 80 km/h.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
