Remarks & Notes |
The Western Railway Museum's SN 1005 and two trailers heads north from Birds Landing on the former SN mainline. In the background is the confluence of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers where they flow into Suisun Bay, which the SN crossed by ferry boat. The first two cars are original SN and operated on this trackage between Oakland and Sacramento until passenger service was abandoned in 1941. The red observation is a former Salt Lake and Utah car. The Western Railway Museum has re-electrified about five miles of former SN mainline, and this operation was one of the museum's annual "Scenic Limited" trains which operate through the emerald green hills each spring. |
