Sad news to report, as some are well aware - 5 months back, on November 30th, 2018, A.E. Staely's NW3, former Great Northern, was scrapped on site after suffering from mechanical issues. That locomotive - seen here was one of seven built, and, at the time, the second of two survivors. Alas, she's gone, leaving the sole NW3, preserved in Great Northern livery on display in front of the Whitefish, MT depot.
The sugar refinery company has since leased EMD SW1200-RS, No. 1259 (former Canadian Pacific) from the Black River and Western. Looks like parts of the building itself is being scrapped on site! On a side note, it appears as if the Augustus Eugene Staley company was actually sold to a British company in 1988 and has been known as
Tate & Lyle Ingredients Americas LLC since 2005.
