The Manitou and Pikes Peak Railway operated cog trains from the base in Colorado Springs to the 14,110 foot summit of Pikes Peak. A complete tear out and reconstruction of the cog line began in March of this year and will be completed in May of 2021.
The railway decided to donate all of their old trains to various institutions, and the Colorado Railroad Museum has been fortunate enough to receive three of the 10 trains.
Of the other 7, The City of Manitou has secured 2, Garden of the Gods Trading Post has received 2 to be used as dining seating and GE Johnson has 3 of them and they may become VIP seating at a new soccer stadium.
