| BNSF's Heritage 1 color scheme was attractive in its endeavor to encompass elements of the AT&SF and GN. The 963 is paired with a Helm Leasing SD40-M3 that was formerly D&RGW No. 5334. This westbound freight has just crossed the New Mexico/Arizona border at Lupton. At this time it was still current of traffic territory and left-hand running from Gallup to Winslow - a remnant of the grade separations that existed between Belen and Pineveta (west of Ash Fork on the original mainline), thus the stylish cantilever signals that so defined this route. |
