A recent picture of the replacement signals at MG by Mike Molnar prompted me to view some of my Conrail-era shots. MG was a wonderful place, sequestered in the woods on the mountainside with silence but for bird calls on an early summer afternoon until the distant laboring of a westbound train far down in the valley became more pronounced. The sound of the approaching train faded within the folds of the mountain as it passed Horseshoe Curve, then suddenly returned with imminence as the train struggled up Whipoorwill straight line and into the plant at MG. CR 6096 is in charge of Allentown-Elkhart freight ALEL this Sunday afternoon. Ektachrome.
