The Lerro Productions' October charter on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad was meant to be the debut of the recently restored 2-4-4-2 Skookum, but with a constant string of problems developing that week, the engine was unable to operate. This, along with the unusually sunny Oregon weather, required some creativity and improvisation to keep things fresh during the charter.
On the third afternoon of the first charter, it was decided to doublehead the two operable engines, Polson Logging Company 2-8-2 2 and McCloud River Railroad 2-6-2 25, on a mixed freight for some runbys just north of the railroad's headquarters in Garibaldi. For sunset, the engines were posed alongside Tillamook Bay, and the unique rock formations known as the Three Graces.
