NS 956, the empty Norfolk Southern OCS back to Altoona, Pa, screams northbound through Athens, Tennessee, in perfect late afternoon light. There's hardly any places on the NS Knoxville west end that you can shoot in nose light in the afternoon, but Mark Ragan tipped me off to this spot, and away I went. We used a little secret height advantage to get this, but it was perfect. NS recently repainted these F9A and B units to perfection.... The new paint screams as the short train makes an easy run northbound.
