During the 9-day 1500 kilometer steam train journey of FarRail Tours, on this day the iconic "Red Devil" class 26 # 3450 pulled a 13-car freight train from Worcester to Ashton and back over the former New Cape Central Railway line. The photographers/videographers chased the train on board of two buses. The train reaches just the highest point of the line at Mowers, about 380 meter a.s.l. The 4-8-4 "Northern" was rebuilt between 1979 and 1981 by mechanical engineer David Wardale from the UK, according the principles of argentain engineer Livio Dante Porta (1922 to 2003), well known for his innovative modifications to existing locomotive systems in order to obtain better performance and energy efficiency, and reduced pollution. The original locomotive was a class 25NC (non condenser) built by Henschel/Kassel/Germany in 1953.
