Remarks & Notes
Taking In Her 70th July 4th. As the sky above lights up, Fillmore & Western Railway F7A No. 100 rests below as the veteran locomotive takes in its 70th Independence Day. Built in 1949 for the Chicago & North Western (C&NW), the unit was rebuilt 10 years later for suburban service. It was sold to the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) on December 31, 1977, and leased back to C&NW. It was retired by RTA or "Metra" on May 2, 1983, and sold to Rails Diversified Inc. as 410 in March 1985. Rails Diversified sold the unit to Winchester & Western RR who then resold it to the Maryland Midland Railroad renumbered as No. 100. The unit would finally be sold to Short Line Enterprises and arrive in California as Fillmore & Western Railway No. 100.
