The Calm Before the Storm- A Canal line trolley full of passengers makes its way along the riverfront as a family stands by, watching on. There was nothing but positive feeling all around this afternoon. Trumpets echoed down through the historic streets, the aroma of freshly baked beignets filled the warm summer air, and not a single frown in sight. Little to be known that 12 hours from now, the scene would be changed dramatically. Streets will have flooded to over 6 inches, businesses would see inches of water flowing through their doors, and motorists would become stranded in some locations of the city where roadways saw 4 feet of floodwater. The issue is, this was only just the beginning of soon-to-be Hurricane Barry.
