Indiana Railroad has repainted SD40-2 4002 and included a logo thanking First Responders on its long hood. The engine, coupled to SD40-2 4006, is seen at the railroad's Hiawatha Yard in Jasonville, Indiana, on September 29, 2017. Due to a heavy workload at the EMD factory in Illinois, this locomotive was built by EMD's Canadian subsidiary GMD in July 1980 for the Burlington Northern Railroad. BN 7234 became Burlington Northern Santa Fe 7234 in 1995, when the BN merged with the Santa Fe. BNSF sold it to the Indiana Railroad, where it became their INRD 42. The INRD recently began renumbering their SD40-2s into the 4000-series. (Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.)
