Hoosier Southern GP9 465 and GP7 467 are on the point of a 7-car passenger train at Buffaloville, Indiana, on September 30, 2017. HOS 465 was originally Southern Pacific subsidiary Texas & New Orleans 454. T&NO 454 was folded into the parent company in the SP's 1965 renumbering, becoming SP 3658. In 1976, the engine entered the SP's rebuild program at the Sacramento Shops in California, emerging that December as SP GP9E (also often called GP9Rs) number 3843. After retirement, it passed through a couple of used locomotive dealers before ending up on the Hoosier Southern.
