With another growing season over, the crops farmed in the flood plain in southern Evansville (Rahm), Indiana, have been plowed under in preparation for next summer's harvest. On this portion of CSX's Henderson Sub, the CSX mainline is built upon a long stretch of trestles in order to keep the railroad running whenever the Ohio floods its banks (so there is a prototype for the Atlas trestle set!). A southbound CSX intermodal train heads for the Henderson Bridge across the Ohio River (and on into Kentucky and Tennessee). CSX ES44DC 5414, ES44AC 3024 and ES44DC 5298 are leading this train on a bright, sunny morning. (Evansville, Indiana – October 1, 2017)
