| Built in 1997 on 500 acres of land, the CSX Fairburn Ramps (located 20 miles from Atlanta) helped to alleviate capacity issues at CSX Hulsey Yard while allowing for new growth and new shipping channels. Now some 20 odd years later CSX has shut down Hulsey Yard and there isn't even a CSX locomotive insight here at Fairburn. However a BNSF intermodal can be seen popping out from under a stradle crane as the sun sets. It will begin its journey west on CSX tracks before being passed off to BNSF. Recent expansion here and crane upgrades (visible on this side of the yard) justified the decision the to shut down Hulsey. |
