Rounding the curve at the northern end of Orange, California, is Pacific Surfliner 1564, weekend service from Los Angeles to San Diego. Unlike most Surfliners, this set is made up of older Amfleet and Horizon Fleet cars (rather than the high-level cars built for these trains, which give purpose to the raised section on the rear of these engines). One of the new California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) SC-44 "Charger" locomotives is on this train, photographed on November 25, 2018. This segment of the line is Metrolink's Orange Sub, and this location is Control Point Maple (CP Maple), where the 5½-mile Olive Sub (in the foreground) diverges and heads north to Atwood (in eastern Anaheim).
